PushPress pricing and what the free plan costs (2026)

PushPress publishes everything, $0, $159 and $229, including its card rates. The free plan's real price is the 4.99% processing, and the maths has a break-even.

The short version: PushPress deserves credit for publishing every number, $0 Free, $159 Pro, $229 Max, unlimited members throughout, and, unusually, its card rates. Those rates are the actual price: 4.99% plus 30 cents on the free plan against 2.89% on paid, which makes the free plan cheaper only below roughly $7,600 a month in card volume, as of August 2026.

Three tiers, no member caps anywhere: Free at $0 with unlimited members, staff and leads; Pro at $159 a month; Max at $229. The paid tiers add the features gym owners tend to miss on Free, Member Intel, waitlisting, the Committed Club attendance rewards, and Rank Tracking for belts and promotions, which matters if you run a martial arts programme. Add-ons sit outside the tiers: Train workout programming from $79 a month, and the branded member app between $81 and $97. PushPress's own pricing page references a full stack at around $559 a month with everything switched on.

The part that separates PushPress from nearly everyone in this market: the processing rates are on the page too. Free: 4.99% plus 30 cents on cards, 2.89% plus 30 cents on ACH. Pro and Max: 2.89% plus 30 cents on cards, 0.79% plus 30 cents on ACH. Most platforms make you ask; PushPress prints it, and that honesty makes the maths below possible.

What the free plan really costs at your card volume

A plan with no subscription and a 4.99% card rate is not free software; it is software paid for by the till. The gap between 4.99% and Pro's 2.89% is 2.1 points of everything your members pay by card, and Pro's $159 subscription buys that gap back. Divide one by the other and the break-even lands near $7,600 a month in card volume.

Monthly cost of PushPress Free versus Pro at three card volumes: Free wins at $5,000, Pro wins at $10,000 and $15,000; break-even is about $7,600
Published rates, August 2026; card payments only

Below the line, Free is the honest bargain: a new gym collecting $5,000 a month by card pays about $250 in processing and nothing else, against $304 all-in on Pro. Above it, the free plan quietly becomes the premium option: at $10,000 a month, Free costs about $499 to Pro's $448; at $15,000, $749 against $593. The lesson is not that either plan is a trick, it is that the right plan is a function of one number you already know from your processor statement.

The add-ons and where the bill settles

Most gyms do not run the $559 full stack. The common configurations, priced from the published numbers: a startup gym on Free with no add-ons pays only its processing; a growing gym on Pro with the branded app pays $240 to $256 a month plus processing; a gym that also programmes workouts through Train lands around $319 to $335. None of these figures needs a sales call, which remains PushPress's most likeable trait.

For a martial arts gym there is one placement issue to weigh: Rank Tracking lives in Pro and Max, so belts cost $159 a month if belts are the reason you came. That is the feature-gate to check before the processing maths, not after.

How Mat Track compares on the same arithmetic

Disclosure first: Mat Track is our product, and the comparison here is structural rather than a ranking. Both platforms publish everything and both run real free plans; the difference is where the platform earns. Mat Track takes no percentage of your payments on any plan, free included, you pay Stripe's or GoCardless's standard rate and nothing on top, so there is no volume at which the free plan turns expensive. The trade is the cap: free covers 200 contacts where PushPress Free is unlimited, and Growth at $99 includes the member app and multi-art rank tracking that PushPress reserves for its paid tiers. A gym choosing between the two free plans is really choosing between unlimited members with a 4.99% rate and 200 contacts with a standard one.

Frequently asked questions

Is PushPress really free?

Yes, genuinely; the Free plan has no monthly fee and no member cap as of August 2026, and it is a real product rather than a trial. The business model sits in the card rate, 4.99% plus 30 cents against 2.89% on paid plans, so the more you take by card, the more the free plan costs you in practice.

How much does PushPress cost per month on paid plans?

Pro is $159 a month and Max is $229 as of August 2026, both with unlimited members, staff and leads, and both dropping card processing to 2.89% plus 30 cents with ACH at 0.79% plus 30 cents. Add-ons are separate, Train workout programming from $79 a month and the branded member app between $81 and $97.

When should a gym move off PushPress Free?

Watch one number, monthly card volume. The 2.1-point gap between the free plan's 4.99% rate and Pro's 2.89% equals Pro's $159 subscription at roughly $7,600 a month; beyond that the free plan is the more expensive option. A gym collecting $10,000 monthly by card pays about $499 in processing on Free against $448 all-in on Pro.

What does PushPress Rank Tracking cost?

Rank tracking for belts and promotions is included in the Pro and Max tiers rather than sold separately, as of August 2026, so its effective price is the upgrade from Free, $159 a month. Martial arts gyms comparing options should note it is not available on the free plan. Mat Track, for comparison, includes multi-art ranks in every plan including its free one.

How does Mat Track pricing compare with PushPress?

Both publish everything and both have a real free plan, as of August 2026. The structural difference is processing, Mat Track adds no platform percentage on any plan, you pay your processor's standard rate, while PushPress earns 4.99% on Free and 2.89% on paid plans. Mat Track's free plan caps at 200 contacts where PushPress's is unlimited; Growth is $99 against Pro's $159.
