Best gym management software UK, 7 compared (2026)
UK gym revenue runs on direct debit, not cards, and that one rail decides the software choice. Seven platforms compared, every price verified.
The short version: the UK market has one structural difference that decides everything: recurring gym revenue here runs on BACS direct debit, not cards, so the software question starts with the rail. Best by need, as of August 2026: Mat Track (ours) for martial arts gyms wanting retention plus GoCardless; TeamUp for class-based studios; ClubRight for the cheapest UK-native package at £79 to £129 plus VAT; ClubWise for fully managed, FCA-authorised collection. Every price below is from the vendor's own page, and the quote-gated vendors are marked.
Follow the rail, not the feature list
In most markets you compare gym software on features. In the UK you compare it on collection first, because a membership billed monthly by card is a membership that fails silently, expired cards, reissued cards, "insufficient funds" retries, while direct debit just collects. The platforms below solve the rail three different ways: run it through GoCardless (Mat Track, TeamUp), run their own collection with published per-collection fees (ClubRight, 40 to 45p per successful collection), or manage the whole thing as an FCA-authorised bureau (ClubWise). Any of the three beats card-first billing for UK subscriptions; which one suits you depends on how much of the admin you want to own.

One more UK-specific warning, carried over from every year we have written this guide: churn-prediction claims are everywhere in this market now. Whatever a vendor calls the feature, AI churn prediction, member risk scores, smart alerts, demo it on real member data and ask exactly when it would have flagged your last five cancellations. Don't buy the adjective; that test is the whole review.
Mat Track, for martial arts gyms on either rail
Ours, weigh accordingly, and scoped honestly: Mat Track is built for martial arts and combat sports gyms, not general fitness. Billing runs through GoCardless for direct debit or Stripe for cards, at their standard rates with 0% platform fees, and the product's centre is retention: every member watched against their own 60-day attendance pattern, drops flagged while a message still changes the outcome, plus multi-art rank tracking and a member app built for daily habit. Pricing is public and in dollars: free to 200 contacts, $99 Growth, $199 Pro, billed monthly, as of August 2026.

Where it wins:
- GoCardless direct debit with 0% platform fees on top.
- Retention alerts, the tested kind, on each member's own attendance pattern.
- A real free plan below 200 contacts.
Where it falls short:
- Built for martial arts and combat sports; general fitness gyms are outside its lane.
- Prices are in dollars, not sterling.
- No website builder and no point of sale.
TeamUp, the UK-rooted class specialist
The strongest all-round UK story among the internationals: GoCardless direct debit support documented throughout its own help centre, GBP billing on its pricing page, every feature at every tier, and the happiest customers in this guide, 4.8 on Capterra across roughly 350 reviews with support the consistent highlight, as of August 2026. Pricing is usage-based, $189 a month at 101 to 200 active customers, with a branded app at $99, and it moves with your roll; one reviewer noted their bill "increased by 20% after one year" purely from growth.

Where it wins:
- GoCardless direct debit is built in properly, not bolted on.
- Every feature at every tier, and support ratings almost nobody matches.
- GBP billing available on published usage-based pricing.
Where it falls short:
- Usage-based pricing means the bill grows with every customer you add.
- The branded app is a $99 add-on.
- Light on niche features, ranks, gradings, performance tracking.

ClubRight, the cheapest UK-native package
The value pick of the UK natives, with everything published: Core at £79 and Complete at £129 a month plus VAT, unlimited members on both, no contracts, no setup fees, free migration, a free website and member app, direct debit at 40 to 45p per successful collection and cards at 1.85% plus 20p, as of August 2026. Multi-site is a £199 add-on. It is honest, cheap and British; what it is not is deep, this is membership administration done simply, not a retention or progression engine.

Where it wins:
- The most transparent UK-native pricing in the market, down to the pence per collection.
- Unlimited members at a flat £79, with no contracts or setup fees.
- Website and member app included in the price.
Where it falls short:
- A simple admin tool at heart; retention is reports, not alerts.
- No martial arts features, no ranks or gradings.
- Multi-site costs a further £199 a month.
ClubWise, for fully managed collection
A different deal from everything else here: ClubWise, in its own words an "FCA-authorised organisation and a BACS-approved bureau", collects your direct debits for you, chases the failures, and hands you the software around it, CRM, bookings, reporting, with over 1,300 customers by its own count. There is no published pricing, as of August 2026; the model is a quote built around your collection volume. For owners who never want to think about failed payments again it is the most complete answer on this page, and the least comparable one, so get the quote itemised and compare it against a DIY GoCardless setup before signing.

Where it wins:
- Fully managed, FCA-authorised direct debit collection, including chasing failures.
- Twenty years of UK club-market history.
- One supplier answerable for both the software and the payments.
Where it falls short:
- No published pricing; you cannot budget without a quote.
- Managed collection costs more than DIY rails as you grow, so model both.
- The software around the billing is functional rather than modern.
GymWyse, the new UK budget option
The newest and cheapest published option: £49 a month Starter for up to 100 members at one location, £82 Professional for up to 500 members across three locations, Enterprise scoped individually, as of August 2026. It sells itself on financial visibility, its homepage leads with finding revenue leaks, failed payments and retention signals in one view. Two honest cautions: the member caps are the real price, £49 covers only your first hundred, and the bolder claims on its marketing pages, churn prediction among them, are exactly the kind to demo on real data before believing, per the warning at the top of this guide.

Where it wins:
- The lowest published entry price in this guide, £49 a month.
- Simple two-tier pricing with member counts stated plainly.
- A clear, single-minded pitch: show the owner where money is leaking.
Where it falls short:
- The 100-member cap makes the real comparison £82, not £49, for most gyms.
- A young product with little independent review history to lean on.
- Marketing claims outrun what the pricing page documents; demo before believing.
Gymdesk, the simple international
The most-installed platform in our own 5,191-site martial arts crawl, and the same proposition in the UK as everywhere: $75 to $200 a month by member count, everything at every tier, website builder included, month to month, 4.8 on Capterra across about 150 reviews, as of August 2026. Pricing is in dollars, so your accountant sees exchange movement, and UK direct debit is the question to put to its sales team in writing, its public pages lead with card processing.

Where it wins:
- One plain price with a website builder in the bundle.
- Month to month, no contracts, no exit fee.
- A big install base, so help and peers are easy to find.
Where it falls short:
- Dollar pricing, so your bill moves with the exchange rate.
- Confirm UK direct debit collection in writing before signing.
- Reports to check, not alerts when a member is drifting.

Glofox, the boutique option with a quote
Founded in Dublin and now part of ABC Fitness, Glofox has real UK and Irish presence and a polished branded member app for boutique studios. It publishes no pricing at all, as of August 2026, and its Capterra record is 4.4 across roughly 360 reviews, the app and the setup help praised, glitches and slow support resolution the recurring complaints. For a UK studio set on a branded app it belongs on the demo list; make the direct debit collection model and the full price the first two questions of that demo.

Where it wins:
- A genuinely polished branded member app.
- Real UK and Irish market presence and big-company backing.
- Studio-shaped features, courses and class packs handled cleanly.
Where it falls short:
- No published pricing at all; you cannot budget without sales.
- Reviewers report glitches and slow support resolution.
- Direct debit specifics need pinning down in the sales process.

How to choose gym software in the UK
Decide the rail first: DIY GoCardless (Mat Track, TeamUp) if you want standard fees and control, published per-collection UK-native (ClubRight, GymWyse) if you want sterling simplicity, managed bureau (ClubWise) if you want failed payments to be someone else's job, priced accordingly. Then apply the churn test to whoever survives: real member data, five real cancellations, "when would you have told me?", because the platform that answers that question earns more than any of the price gaps above; the arithmetic is in our gym member retention guide. The full international field, including Mindbody, PushPress and Wodify, is in our gym management software guide, and our own published list is at mattrackapp.com/gyms.
